Description
The Chajá is Uruguay’s most iconic dessert, and one of the most underappreciated sweets in all of South America. Named after a bird native to the region, it’s built from alternating layers of light sponge cake, fresh whipped cream, crunchy meringue pieces, and fruit (traditionally peaches or strawberries) creating a dessert that is airy, creamy, and subtly sweet all at once.
Unlike denser cakes, the Chajá is refreshing rather than heavy, which makes it a standout choice for warm-weather celebrations or when you want something memorable without the richness of a traditional layer cake. You’d be hard-pressed to find it anywhere else in the Salt Lake Valley.
Perfect for: birthdays, summer parties, Mother’s Day, or anyone who wants to try something genuinely new.
Contains: gluten, dairy, eggs. Please contact us for dietary accommodations.
